With our international travel plans put on pause, there's no better time to explore what our own beautiful country has to offer! Now we could be here all day discussing the best Aussie attractions... so, we thought that, instead, we'd start small (but mighty) with the best beaches in Victoria...

Ocean Grove Main Beach
A classic but a goodie, get some sun and catch some waves at this family-friendly, scenic beach. Perfect for any sandcastle builds or beach explorations – you and the family will never run out of new things to experience. Aussie families have been going to Ocean Grove for generations, and we can certainly see why. Two kilometres of family-friendly surf beach which is frequently patrolled by lifeguards and a whole ton of adventure waiting to be found.
What’s not to love?
If you’re visiting Victoria for the first time, or haven’t ventured to Ocean Grove before, it’s a great Victorian beach vacation starting point to explore.

Half Moon Bay – Black Rock
Looking for just a short beach getaway that’s not too far from home?
Well, Black Rock is only 18km south-east from Melbourne’s CBD and is the ideal daily escape.
Named after its crescentic shape, Half Moon Bay is known for the bay’s extensive sandbanks and low waves, making this one of the safest beaches to visit (tick, tick!) If you’re after a little bit of romance too, simply stay until dusk and watch as the sun slowly sinks away in the distance.
Although, beware that in peak season parking can become a little problematic in the small carpark. We recommend opting to park on the local streets nearby instead.
Refuge Cove, Tidal River - Wilson’s Prom
You haven’t truly experienced Victoria’s beauty until you’ve visited Wilson’s Promontory National Park – particularly Refuge Cove, Tidal River. This beach is great for our hikers/experienced walkers, as it’s approximately a 15.9km walk (one-way). We know, we know; it sounds a little overwhelming and probably isn’t the best option for little ones – but trust us,
IT’S SO WORTH IT!
Not only is the walk there full of beautiful, luscious greenery but Refuge Cove is even more picturesque! Think glistening blue water, amazing views from every angle and lush vegetation – completely secluded from the rest of society.
Betka, Quarry and Secret Beach – Mallacoota
Shhh, this one’s a secret. So keep it close to your chest.
Feel like you’ve been to most of Victoria’s beaches and want to try something a little different? Looking for the best beach yet?
Well then, we suggest you head to Eastern Gippsland where you can find a trio of stunning beaches most tourists don’t even know about…
Betka Beach, located just where the river meets the ocean, is perfect for young kids to paddle around in (with your cautious eye, of course). Then we have Quarry Beach, which has colourful rock strata to admire. Secret Beach, accessible via a staircase on Betka Road, differs slightly with its clean white sand, rockpools and a small sea cave.
Brighton Doggy Beach
Okay, so we had to have an option for our animal lovers out there too! So doggy parents – this one’s for you.
We found that the best off-lead dog beach in Victoria goes to Brighton Bay. The beach is fully fenced with shallow water suitable for small dogs. And when the tide is out, there’s oodles of flat sandy beach for the fast and furious.
It really is the best location for your next beach vacation. So, relax and rewind, whilst still allowing your pup to have the time of their life!
Afterwards, get a coffee on the deck at Middle Brighton Sea Baths. YUM.
FUN FACT: Brighton Beach is actually one of our favourite places to shoot campaign images at - so make sure you bring a camera!
Kitty Millers Bay – Phillip Island
Don’t be fooled, this is not a beach for your cats (we wish, though!)
But Kitty Millers Bay certainly does not disappoint with its picturesque, circular bay. If you or your family are more into adrenaline pumping, heart-racing activities – this one’s all yours. Popular for swimming, snorkeling, surfing, beach walks and fishing, everyone can join in on the fun.
However, remember to be careful. Unfortunately, as beautiful as this beach is, it’s known to have strong rips and currents and you should only be entering the water if you’re an experienced swimmer. It is not currently patrolled by lifeguards.
Pea Soup Beach - Port Fairy
A wide and beautiful beach fronting the Southern Ocean, you’ll be astonished by just how peaceful and wonderful this beach is. Walk west along the coastline from the town to find this hidden gem – 500 meters of long white sandy beach protected by a continuous basalt reef lying offshore.
The shallow sheltered lagoon and rockpools are perfect to explore with little ones. It’s also a great place for a bit of beachcombing too!
