What is the purpose of a rashie?
The purpose of a rashie is essentially to protect the skin by acting as a barrier between external elements. This includes things such as sand, rocks, salt and reef for example and also provides protection from harmful UV rays with many rashies being designed with a UPF 50+ protection rating. Orignally designed for surfers, rashies have become popular for a variety of water sports and outdoor activities. If saving your skin from sun damage or skin abrasions matters to you, then a rashie is just what you need.
What Are The Different Rashie Styles?
There are a whole range of different styles when it comes to rashies. You can get short sleeves, ¾ length or long. Zips that run all the way down for easy dressing. No zips at all for that full support. Or something in between!
Mix and match them with your favourite bikini bottoms and you’ll be set to ride those waves safely and comfortably too.
Chlorine Resistant Styles
For our pool swimmers out there, we’re sure you’re quite particular about this component of swimwear. And we understand why! Unfortunately, fabrics such as spandex and lycra can start to disintegrate when exposed to chlorine more than a couple of times a week.
For our surfers or saltwater lovers, this wouldn’t really be an issue for you – but if you are looking for a new rashie top specifically for the pool we recommend our chlorine resistant range, as this fabric is designed for ultimate durability and longevity!

Long sleeve rashies provide sun protection by covering the skin from harmful UV rays from the tops tightly woven blend of nylon or polyester. No sun will be shining through there! Many of our rash tops have a UPF rating. This indicates how much of the sun's UV radiation is blocked by the fabric.

The best way to describe a sunsuit is a rashie in the form of a one piece which offers that bit more extra protection! That's right a fully connected rashie, no need to look for a pair of bikini bottoms! Just like a rash top, a sunsuit protects the skin from harmful UV rays. It works to reduce the risks of sunburn, heat exhaustion and other sun related health issues that can result from prolonged periods in the sun.
